Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Lancaster. The position offers a clear progression path towards a senior Management Accountant or Finance Manager role within the next few years.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the production of management accounts and month‑end close.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Conduct variance analysis for sales, contribution and overheads against budget and prior year.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and perform balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse operational costs, including labour, materials and efficiencies.
• Support manufacturing product BOM and standard costing activities.
• Assist with stock management and year‑end accounting, including audit preparation.
• Provide ad‑hoc support for purchase and sales ledger tasks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with operational teams.

Required profile

• AAT qualified (or near qualification) or actively studying CIMA/ACCA.
• Experience working in a finance or accounting function, preferably within manufacturing.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
