Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team in Hitchin. This developmental position offers hands‑on experience with month‑end processes, financial reporting and operational finance tasks while supporting senior accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and supporting the month‑end close, including journal entries, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Help produce financial reports, analysis and management information for internal stakeholders.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure data integrity.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and audit preparation activities.
• Provide ad‑hoc assistance to accounts payable/receivable and other finance team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
• Active study towards a professional qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
