Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Management Accountant will join the finance team to support the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reporting and budgeting activities. This position offers the chance to work within an established environmental services organisation based in Winnersh, Reading, and to develop a solid foundation in accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes through accurate data analysis.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
• Process accruals, pre‑payments and journal entries.
• Provide financial insights to aid decision‑making in the environmental services sector.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial compliance and accuracy.
• Assist with internal and external audits as required.
• Contribute to the improvement of financial processes and reporting systems.

Required profile

• A relevant accounting qualification or progress towards a recognised certification.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Interest in the environmental services industry (desirable but not essential).
• Motivation to develop a career in accounting and finance.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with financial software.
