Assistant Manager – Automotive Service & Workshop

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Manager to support the Centre Manager in one of the UK’s largest automotive service, maintenance and repair businesses. The role combines hands‑on workshop work with leadership of sales and customer service activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Centre Manager in daily operations, including sales targets and customer service.
• Work alongside technicians on vehicle repairs and diagnostics.
• Coach, train and develop workshop staff to maintain high standards.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and maintain workshop organisation.
• Contribute to profitability by monitoring performance and identifying improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar automotive management role.
• Strong customer‑focused attitude with ability to lead a team.
• Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of workshop operations, diagnostics and vehicle maintenance processes.
• Ability to bring and use personal tools in a busy workshop environment.
