Assistant Manager – Retail Store (Banbury)

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager of a fast‑growing value retailer in Banbury. You will lead a high‑performing team in a busy, high‑volume environment and help drive sales, shrinkage and wage control.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of a department and act as Duty Manager when required.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving KPIs such as sales targets, shrinkage reduction and wage control.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and foster team engagement.
• Oversee stock control, merchandising and compliance standards.
• Ensure Health & Safety procedures are consistently followed.
• Analyse store data to identify improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Assistant Manager or similar role in a fast‑paced retail setting.
• Hands‑on leader who thrives on the shop floor and motivates others.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Passion for customer service and meeting targets.
• Proactive attitude with ambition to progress to Store Manager.
