Assistant Manager – Retail Store (Grays, SE England)

About the role

Join a rapidly expanding market‑leading retail business as an Assistant Manager. Reporting to the Store Manager, you will help drive turnover and revenue while ensuring excellent customer service and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day‑to‑day running of a department.
• Act as Duty Manager for the whole store in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Support Store Management in achieving financial and non‑financial KPIs, including wages, wastage, shrinkage, customer feedback and compliance.
• Maintain high standards of store presentation, stock control and health & safety.
• Use management information to make strategic business decisions.

Required profile

• Proven track record in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Enjoy being on the shop floor – no office‑only role.
• Strong operational, leadership, planning, organisational and communication skills.
• Target‑driven, customer‑service oriented and highly motivated.
• Self‑starter with a can‑do attitude.
