Assistant Merchandiser – Retail Trade Analyst

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Merchandiser to join a busy, commercially‑driven merchandising team, supporting the Senior Merchandiser across stores, online and exciting retail partners. The position is hybrid, based in North London / Buckinghamshire, with easy access via the London Underground Metropolitan line.

Key responsibilities

• Update WSSIs, review sales and stock, and identify commercial opportunities.
• Support in‑season analysis, reforecasting and actions to maximise sales while minimising risk.
• Assist with budget, option count and depth‑of‑buy planning.
• Work closely with Buying on range construction and product decisions.
• Manage line detail, monitor availability and produce performance analysis.
• Compile historical data to support strategy and planning.
• Prepare weekly trade packs, add commentary and share findings with the wider team.
• Review line prints, flag top and bottom performers for swift action.
• Collaborate with branch merchandising to optimise A&R parameters.
• Develop a strong understanding of product performance across channels and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in a retail merchandising environment as an Assistant Merchandiser or Merchandising Administrator.
• Commercially minded with a curiosity to understand the why behind the numbers.
• Analytical, comfortable working with data and Excel.
• Inquisitive, detail‑oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently without constant supervision.
• Collaborative communicator who works well with Buying, Merchandising and wider teams.
• Positive, energetic attitude with a genuine enjoyment of the role.
