Assistant People Partner

About the role

The Assistant People Partner will sit at the heart of a large public‑sector organisation, supporting senior leaders to shape workforce strategy and enhance employee experience. Working in a hybrid model from Truro, you will help create a high‑performing, inclusive workplace where staff feel valued and empowered.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior managers to develop and implement people‑related initiatives, including workforce planning and organisational change projects.
• Provide day‑to‑day employee‑relations advice, handling complex cases and ensuring compliance with employment legislation.
• Analyse workforce data to inform recruitment, retention and leadership development strategies.
• Support recruitment activities and contribute to the design of leadership development programmes.
• Maintain HR systems for sickness, ER and other employee data, ensuring accuracy and data‑protection compliance.

Required profile

• Strong generalist HR experience, preferably within the public sector.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
• Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and best practice in employee relations.
• Analytical mindset with experience interpreting workforce metrics.
• Proactive, solution‑focused attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
