Assistant Planning Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Planning Engineer to support the planning function on a £500 million construction project in Gloucester. Working closely with senior planners, you will help develop and maintain project programmes, monitor progress and contribute to the successful delivery of the scheme.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning team in developing and maintaining construction programmes.
• Update project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or ASTA Powerproject.
• Monitor site progress against the programme and produce regular progress reports.
• Identify programme risks, delays and opportunities.
• Gather progress information from site management and project teams.
• Prepare look‑ahead programmes and related planning documentation.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to planning discussions.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a planning role within the construction industry.
• Experience with a UK main contractor or construction consultancy is advantageous.
• Good understanding of construction processes and project planning principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Proactive attitude with a desire to build a long‑term career in construction planning.

Required skills

• Primavera P6 (or willingness to learn).
• ASTA Powerproject (or willingness to learn).
