Assistant Practitioner - Speech and Language Therapy

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Assistant Practitioner to join our Speech and Language Therapy team in Trowbridge. You will support children and young people in nursery and school settings across Wiltshire, delivering high‑quality assessment and therapy interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement specialised treatment programmes for children with complex speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Assess the effectiveness of interventions, modify programmes as needed and report outcomes.
• Work independently in community and specialist settings, monitoring progress and providing feedback to qualified therapists.
• Collaborate with other agencies and maintain accurate records of care delivered.

Required profile

• Diploma level education or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal, observation and empathy skills.
• Experience working with children who have speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and develop relationships with external agencies.
• Valid UK driving licence.

• Makaton communication system.
