Assistant Procurement Manager

About the role

The Assistant Procurement Manager will support the delivery of multiple procurement projects across a range of categories for a public‑sector client. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure compliant, value‑driven outcomes in line with local government legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage several procurement projects simultaneously, covering diverse category areas.
• Lead end‑to‑end procurement exercises in accordance with public sector procurement legislation and best practice.
• Develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships and engage stakeholders throughout the process.
• Negotiate contracts, implement risk‑management measures and monitor delivery of procurement outcomes.
• Provide commercial advice and independently lead projects within a complex organisational environment.

Required profile

• MCIPS qualification or equivalent professional procurement experience.
• Proven experience in local government procurement, including knowledge of PCR 2015 and the Procurement Act.
• Ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong track record of delivering compliant procurement activity and managing risk.
