Assistant Product Technologist - Hardlines/Hardgoods

About the role

Mountain Warehouse is seeking an Assistant Product Technologist to join its Hardlines team in London. The role will support the product range technically and sustainably, handling technical administration across hardgoods such as camping equipment, rucksacks, sleeping bags and umbrellas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage category testing and AQL programmes in line with critical path timelines.
• Work with suppliers to gather compliance documentation required for import.
• Record product comments in review meetings and follow up with suppliers.
• Oversee soft‑hardline quality sign‑offs and risk‑assess products, delivering development resolutions.
• Drive innovation in performance and sustainability through benchmarking and technical advances.
• Support the buying team by advising on technical and sustainable suitability of fabrics, construction and fit.
• Monitor returns data to identify patterns and implement corrective action plans.
• Build supplier relationships to influence quality and fit.

Required profile

• At least 1 year experience in an assistant technologist role.
• Hardlines experience is an advantage.
• Experience in testing review and data‑management reporting.
• Proven ability to work with offshore suppliers.
• Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills.
• Team player able to work under pressure to deadlines, organised and detail‑oriented.
