Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a small, well‑established main contractor in Hertfordshire. You will support the commercial team across a variety of live schemes in the healthcare, residential and commercial sectors, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out re‑measurements on project drawings and site data.
• Support subcontractor procurement and prepare valuations.
• Prepare and assist with interim valuations and final accounts.
• Provide general commercial assistance to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Participate in estimating and pricing works as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or a strong trainee ready to step up.
• Experience working for a main contractor is preferred.
• Good understanding of subcontract packages and valuation processes.
• Organised, commercially aware and eager to develop.
• Comfortable working within a small, close‑knit commercial team.
