Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial performance of our operational teams. Working closely with managers, finance, clients and the supply chain, you will help maximise revenue, protect margins and ensure all works are accurately valued and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Review completed works and value them using Schedule of Rates (SOR) and contract mechanisms.
• Identify opportunities to increase value and reduce commercial risk across repairs and voids workflows.
• Verify and approve subcontractor claims within delegated authority.
• Raise purchase orders, capture costs and support month‑end financial processes.
• Prepare commercial and performance reports, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities.
• Support periodic commercial reviews with managers, finance and operational leads.
• Maintain and improve commercial processes, documentation and systems.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal teams on commercial matters.

Required profile

• Commercially aware with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret data, challenge inconsistencies and support decision‑making.
• Experience in responsive maintenance, housing repairs or similar contracting environments.
• Proven ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Confident decision‑maker with solid problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Schedule of Rates (SOR).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Competent user of job management systems.
