Assistant SENCO – Primary School (Tower Hamlets)

About the role

This full‑time, school‑based position starts in September 2026 at a "Good" rated primary school in Tower Hamlets. The Assistant SENCO will support the delivery of high‑quality SEN provision across the primary and, eventually, the nursery phases.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a small ARP class of six non‑verbal/ASD pupils.
• Lead and mentor an experienced HLTA team.
• Support the preparation and delivery of EHCP applications, including assessments and report writing.
• Provide ongoing SEN leadership and support, initially in the primary school and later extending to the nursery.
• Maintain accurate data and administrative records for SEN pupils.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• Strong understanding of SEN, particularly autism spectrum disorders.
• Ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
• Excellent planning and teaching skills for SEN pupils.
• Proven ability to collaborate within a large, multidisciplinary team.
