Assistant SENCO – Secondary School (Southwark)

About the role
We are seeking an organised and dedicated Assistant SENCO to support pupils aged 11‑18 in a Southwark secondary school. Working closely with the SENCO, you will help coordinate SEND provision, implement EHCPs and ensure that pupils receive the right interventions for positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the SENCO in planning and delivering SEND provision across the school.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Liaise with teachers, parents and external professionals to coordinate support.
- Maintain accurate SEND records and contribute to annual reviews.
- Provide staff with strategies and resources to meet the needs of pupils with additional needs.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting SEND provision within a secondary school.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCPs and annual review processes.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Willingness to work towards a National Award for SEN Coordination (if not already held).
Required skills
- Familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Understanding of EHCP development and monitoring.
- Ability to manage records and produce clear reports.
