Assistant Space & Range Planner

About the role

The Assistant Space & Range Planner will support the branch category and merchandising team in delivering the retail strategy for grocery, gifting and seasonal ranges. You will work closely with Category Leads to optimise space planning, stock forecasting and in‑store presentation across the retailer’s estate.

Key responsibilities

• Support retail growth strategy through sales analysis, margin management and KPI tracking in partnership with Buying & Finance teams.
• Analyse customer insights, market trends and trading performance to inform stock forecasts and commercial decisions.
• Produce and analyse reporting on best‑seller performance, stock optimisation and trading analysis.
• Maintain product data, cost files and administrative reporting processes.
• Develop and implement merchandising planograms, POS materials and space‑planning initiatives.
• Conduct store visits to review merchandising standards and range execution.
• Coordinate supplier relationships, tenders and day‑to‑day communication regarding deliveries and product activity.
• Support the end‑to‑end development of bespoke products, ensuring quality, margin delivery and timely execution.

Required profile

• 3+ years’ experience in FMCG or retail environments, preferably in merchandising, buying, space planning or POS management.
• Exposure to multiple product categories across grocery and/or non‑food sectors.
• Strong commercial awareness with understanding of P&L performance, sales trends and margin drivers.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and supporting buying activities.
