Assistant Store Manager – Luxury Travel

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to support the leadership of our Cheltenham store for a leading luxury tour operator. You will help drive sales, deliver exceptional customer service and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations in a dynamic travel retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in achieving and exceeding retail sales targets and budgeted operating profit.
• Convert enquiries into bookings by providing expert travel advice and outstanding customer service.
• Monitor financial performance and productivity of the team.
• Oversee store operations and administration on a daily basis.
• Coach, motivate and develop travel consultants to reach their full potential.
• Take responsibility for the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
• Assist with local marketing initiatives and campaigns to build customer relationships.

Required profile

• Experience in retail travel, tour operations or a travel sales environment, with supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred.
• Proven track record of delivering sales results and high‑quality customer service.
• Passion for travel, especially long‑haul destinations.
• Good understanding of the commercial aspects of tour operating, including scheduled flights.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of at least one travel agent or tour operator reservation system.
• Strong leadership, coaching and communication abilities.

What we offer

• Basic salary of £28,960 plus uncapped commission.
• 37.5‑hour week, including Saturdays on a rota, with opening hours 9:30 am‑6:00 pm.
