Assistant Store Manager – Retail

About the role

We are looking for a motivated retail leader to join a fast‑moving big‑box store in West Cumbria. As Assistant Store Manager you will support the Store Manager and help drive operational excellence while delivering outstanding customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of a key department and act as Duty Manager when required.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets, controlling shrinkage and managing labour.
• Lead, coach and motivate the team to create a positive, productive environment.
• Deliver exceptional customer service across all store areas.
• Maintain high standards of stock management, merchandising and store presentation.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and company policies.
• Analyse store performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant Store Manager, Department Manager or similar leadership role in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Hands‑on leader who enjoys being on the shop floor and inspiring teams.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a passion for delivering results.
• Commercial awareness and ability to drive performance through people.
• Ambition to progress into a Store Management position.
