Assistant Store Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join our growing retail team in Petersfield. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will help run day‑to‑day operations, deliver excellent customer service and support sales growth. The role offers a balanced schedule with no late shifts, no Sunday work and half‑day Saturdays on a rotating basis.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries via telephone, email and face‑to‑face, guiding them to suitable solutions.
• Follow up on new enquiries and convert opportunities into new customers.
• Explain services, recommend appropriate products and promote additional offerings.
• Build and maintain relationships with individual customers, local businesses and supporting organisations.
• Support the Store Manager in driving sales and maximising revenue.
• Manage existing customer relationships and retain accounts.
• Handle contracts, payments, customer accounts and general administration.
• Monitor rent payments and pursue outstanding balances.
• Conduct regular safety, security and maintenance checks, liaising with contractors as needed.
• Maintain high standards of site presentation and overall customer experience.

Required profile

• Confident, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility.
• Experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader, Sales Advisor or similar customer‑facing role.
• Strong communication skills with both individual customers and business clients.
• Ability to work effectively within a small team and support the Store Manager.
