Assistant Tax Manager – up to £65K

About the role

This role offers an experienced tax professional the chance to support a well‑known corporate tax team within a medium‑sized law firm located in Chancery Lane, London. Reporting to the Tax Partner, you will assist managers in delivering high‑quality tax advice and compliance services.

Key responsibilities

• Research UK tax legislation, HMRC practice and relevant case law.
• Analyse data using Excel and produce tax computations.
• Conduct detailed reviews of client prime documents, highlight issues and prepare synopses.
• Draft tax advisory reports, letters, memos and emails for senior team members.
• Manage client and third‑party service provider interactions, including meetings and instruction handling.
• Assist in preparing marketing materials and liaise with the marketing team.
• Provide general support to advisory and compliance workstreams.

Required profile

• Degree level (minimum 2:1), preferably BSc/BA, CTA or ACA/ACCA qualified.
• Experience of UK tax compliance, including handling a small client portfolio.
• Proven ability to prepare and review tax returns.
• Experience preparing tax advisory reports, ideally for Owner Managed Businesses.
• Familiarity with international tax issues for private clients is desirable.
• Strong oral and written communication, analytical and organisational skills.
