Assistant Team Manager – Early Help

About the role

Join a Merseyside council as an Assistant Team Manager within the Early Help team. You will support the delivery of high‑quality services for children and families, working closely with practitioners and partner agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide supervision, guidance and professional development for Early Help practitioners.
• Oversee and review Early Help assessments and intervention plans.
• Assist the Team Manager with case allocation, workload management and daily operational oversight.
• Monitor safeguarding risks, advise on thresholds and escalate concerns when needed.
• Deputise for the Team Manager, leading meetings and making operational decisions in their absence.
• Promote effective multi‑agency collaboration with schools, health services and voluntary organisations.
• Conduct audits and quality‑assurance activities to ensure policy compliance.
• Track team performance, outcomes and service target adherence.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum of three years post‑qualifying social work experience.
