Assistant Theatre Scheduler – Paediatric Surgery

About the role
The Assistant Theatre Scheduler supports the delivery of a high‑quality, efficient surgical scheduling service for paediatric specialties. Working under the Administration Manager for Theatre Scheduling, the role ensures patients are booked for procedures within clinical timeframes and national waiting‑time targets.
Key responsibilities
- Use the HIVE system to input, update and manage patient information for elective surgeries.
- Assist in listing patients, confirming appointments and conducting pre‑operative health checks.
- Handle telephone enquiries from patients, families and staff, escalating complex queries as needed.
- Monitor theatre utilisation, support scheduling meetings and manage last‑minute changes to operating lists.
- Identify patients unfit for surgery and ensure they are removed from waiting lists appropriately.
- Maintain accurate scheduling records, speciality diaries and ensure confidentiality of patient data.
- Provide administrative cover, including reception duties, and support the wider team.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the HIVE patient‑management system.
