Assistant Warehouse Manager

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the Warehouse Manager in running a busy distribution centre in Kent. You will be on the warehouse floor, motivating staff and ensuring that goods‑in, picking, packing, dispatch and stock control meet performance and accuracy targets.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day management of warehouse operations.
• Supervise, motivate and develop warehouse staff.
• Ensure orders are picked, packed and dispatched accurately and on time.
• Manage goods‑in, stock control and inventory processes.
• Allocate workloads and resources effectively across the team.
• Monitor performance, provide coaching and conduct health & safety checks.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and resolve operational issues.
• Handle staff administration, including absence and return‑to‑work processes.
• Act as deputy to the Warehouse Manager when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Team Leader or Assistant Warehouse Manager.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, dispatch, stock control and inventory management.
• Proven ability to manage and develop teams.
• Excellent communication and people‑management skills.
• Proactive, hands‑on leadership style with strong organisational abilities.
• Good IT proficiency, including Excel and warehouse management systems.
• Counterbalance or Reach forklift licence (essential).
• Attention to detail.
