Associate Actuarial Risk Analyst – Institutional Investment

About the role
This position supports the Institutional Investment team by delivering and enhancing actuarial, funding and contribution risk models for Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds. You will work closely with risk, investment and client management teams to provide insight into long‑term funding strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain actuarial, funding and contribution risk models and reporting for LGPS funds.
- Build asset‑liability models using ALM software to evaluate long‑term funding and contribution strategies.
- Prepare funding risk reports, dashboards and materials for CRO, executive and board reporting.
- Maintain and improve ALM data, models, policies, desk procedures and technical documentation.
- Support the development and monitoring of risk appetite statements.
- Contribute to risk projects, including climate‑risk scenario analysis.
- Monitor actuarial, regulatory and market developments and research pension funding trends.
Required profile
- 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the defined‑benefit pensions industry.
- Progress towards actuarial qualifications is desirable.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and report‑writing abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Clear communicator able to explain technical topics to non‑specialists.
- Organised and able to work to tight deadlines.
Required skills
- Hands‑on experience with asset‑liability modelling software (e.g., Ortec GLASS).
- Advanced Excel modelling skills.
- Exposure to Power BI.
- Familiarity with Python.
