Associate Data Engineer

About the role

As an Associate Data Engineer you will help build and maintain Planet's modern data platform, focusing on Fivetran, Snowflake and dbt. You will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, AI engineers and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, reliable and ready for analytics and operational use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data pipelines using ELT tools such as Fivetran and event‑based sources.
• Support integration of new data sources into Snowflake following established patterns.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes for timely and accurate data ingestion and transformation.
• Implement incremental and full‑refresh data loads and monitor reverse‑ETL pipelines to operational systems.
• Develop and maintain data transformation models using dbt, including dimensional models and data quality tests.
• Collaborate with analytics engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions.
• Maintain documentation for pipelines, data flows, transformations and ensure compliance with data governance standards.

Required profile

• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and modern platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or Redshift.
• Experience or willingness to work with ELT tools like Fivetran.
• Advanced SQL skills for querying and transforming large datasets.
• Exposure to dbt for data transformation and modelling.
• Basic understanding of software engineering practices, version control (Git) and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
