Associate Director of Procurement

About the role

We are supporting an NHS organisation in Surrey that is looking for an Associate Director of Procurement (Band 8d). The role provides strategic leadership across multiple hospital sites and the wider Integrated Care System, driving procurement transformation, value creation and improved patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and deliver the procurement, supply‑chain and commercial strategy for several hospitals and the Integrated Care System.
• Lead large‑scale savings, cost‑improvement and efficiency programmes.
• Oversee category management, contracting, logistics and supply‑chain functions.
• Develop and implement strategies aligned with NHS, ICS and national priorities.
• Drive digital adoption, automation and analytics within procurement.
• Ensure robust governance, compliance and value‑for‑money across all activities.
• Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across the Trust, ICS and external partners.

Required profile

• Significant procurement and commercial leadership experience in large, complex public‑sector environments.
• Strong understanding of NHS/public‑sector procurement regulations, contract management and strategic sourcing.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high‑performing procurement teams.
• Experience at senior NHS management level.
• Relevant qualifications such as MCIPS or a postgraduate management degree.
