Associate – FIG Ratings Advisory (Global Banking)

About the role

As an Associate in the FIG Ratings Advisory team within Global Banking, you will support Santander Corporate & Investment Banking’s clients in managing credit ratings and capital‑structure strategies. You will work closely with banks, insurers and other non‑bank financial institutions across Europe, North America and Latin America.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients in improving relationships with rating agencies and financial institutions.
• Conduct credit rating assessments for rated and unrated banks, insurers and NBFIs using S&P, Moody’s and Fitch methodologies.
• Collaborate with CIB product teams to design financing solutions.
• Prepare and present rating and capital‑structure material for client pitches.
• Support the development of financial‑strategy advisory services.

Required profile

• Previous credit rating analysis experience at a major rating agency or in a rating advisory role within an investment bank.
• Degree in a quantitative discipline.
• Will obtain CISI Corporate Finance and Regulatory modules within the first six months.
• Strong analytical background and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work in ad‑hoc, cross‑geographic teams.
