Associate Fire Engineer – Built Asset Consultancy

About the role

RLB is seeking an Associate Fire Engineer to join its Birmingham team, working on a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects. You will provide fire safety consultancy within a multidisciplinary environment, supporting the delivery of high‑quality fire engineering services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and manage a team of fire consultants, providing advice to the Partner.
• Develop and deliver fire consultancy services including risk assessments, compartmentation surveys, quality monitoring and remediation project management.
• Liaise with enforcing authorities and clients on fire safety standards, ensuring compliance and quality assurance.
• Contribute to bid documents, financial reporting and the growth of the fire consultancy service.

Required profile

• Level 5 qualification in Fire Discipline (minimum) and an engineering‑related degree, preferably with IEng or CEng status.
• Robust knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and membership of IFE/IFSM or equivalent.
• Proven experience managing complex projects and leading teams, with a track record of business development.
• Strong client‑facing skills, able to build long‑term relationships and deliver high‑quality technical advice.
