Associate Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Edinburgh team, delivering specialist geotechnical solutions for minerals, quarrying and infrastructure projects. You will work within a close‑knit consultancy, taking ownership of project delivery and client relationships while supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and deliver geotechnical assessments and investigations.
• Provide technical input on minerals, quarry and earthworks projects.
• Produce and review geotechnical reports, specifications and assessments.
• Carry out slope stability, rock mechanics and ground behaviour analyses.
• Support project planning, delivery and commercial management.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Contribute to the consultancy’s development and success.

Required profile

• Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in a geotechnical consultancy.
• Experience on minerals, quarrying, mining or earthworks projects (highly advantageous).
• Strong technical understanding of geotechnical principles and ground investigation.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage projects and develop client relationships.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership (desirable).
