Associate

About the role

The Associate will join Birketts' Corporate Team within the Corporate Services Division, based in Ipswich. This role supports a nationally recognised team advising a wide range of corporate clients on complex transactions and strategic matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to entrepreneurs, private equity and venture capital funds, financial institutions and privately owned businesses.
• Assist with mergers and acquisitions, buy‑outs, buy‑ins, capital‑raising, EOT transactions, and other corporate restructurings.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, shareholder agreements, and other transaction documents.
• Work closely with specialist sub‑teams such as private equity, venture capital, capital markets and incentives.
• Collaborate with Banking & Finance, Corporate Tax, Company Secretarial and Technology teams on cross‑border deals.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or equivalent with experience in corporate law.
• Demonstrated ability to manage transactions from inception to completion.
• Strong analytical and commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Corporate and commercial law expertise.
• Experience drafting and negotiating transaction documents.
• Knowledge of corporate governance and regulatory frameworks.
