Associate Lecturer - Marker (Fully Remote)
University of the Built Environment
Job description
About the role
The University of the Built Environment is recruiting Markers for its Associate Lecturer pool, working fully remotely from anywhere in the UK. Markers work within their Module team under the guidance of the Module Leader, providing timely, effective and helpful feedback on student assessments using the provided Assessment Feedback Template. All assessments are marked online. The role is on a casual worker basis, with hours depending on submission dates.
Key responsibilities
- Complete the Module Marking certification training on the VLE and pass the quiz before the contract starts, and complete any relevant assessment platform training.
- Mark assigned assessments online using the specified software, in line with the marking criteria, guidance and standards provided by the Module Leader.
- Complete at least 3-5 assessment submissions within the first 2-3 days of allocation so the Module Leader can review them.
- Attend up to two assessment briefing webinars (one per assessment) or listen to the recordings if unable to attend.
- Read the assessment marking guides and familiarise yourself with the module content on the VLE (read-only access).
- Monitor and contribute to the tutor forum on the assessment, and learn the process for reporting suspected academic misconduct.
- Keep the Module Leader and other university teams informed of your progress, and be contactable by university colleagues during normal working hours.
Required profile
- Able to work fully remotely from a suitable environment in the UK.
- Available to mark assessments starting from submission due dates.
- Original documentary evidence of academic and/or professional qualifications will be checked as part of pre-employment screening.
Markers are sought for Quantity Surveying, Valuation, and Construction Management modules in the Autumn and Spring semesters. All work is paid via payroll, and entry into the Associate Lecturer pool does not guarantee further work.
