Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing MEP team in Winchester. You will lead mechanical building‑services design projects, manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure high‑quality client delivery across all RIBA design stages.

Key responsibilities

• Lead MEP engineering teams on a variety of projects, from concept through detailed design.
• Manage project risk and commercial aspects while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Produce reports, drawings and specifications using CAD and BIM (Revit) tools.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance.
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, surveyors and contractors to integrate building services.
• Attend project and technical meetings and ensure designs meet legislative and health‑and‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Significant experience in mechanical building‑services design, either in consultancy or contractor environments.
• Accredited degree or higher qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Progress towards IEng or CEng status.
• Strong project‑management capability and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Experience using BIM tools, particularly Revit.
