About the role
The Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, together with St Catherine's College, is recruiting an Associate Professor to strengthen its cell biology expertise. The role is part of the newly created Louise Johnson Associate Professorships, honoring Professor Louise Johnson’s legacy.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an independent research programme in molecular and cellular biochemistry.
- Secure external research funding and publish high‑impact findings.
- Contribute to teaching through a 4‑year Masters programme and act as a Tutorial Fellow at St Catherine's College.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research themes across genetics, microbiology, human health and infectious disease.
- Mentor junior researchers and participate in departmental training initiatives.
Required profile
- Doctorate and post‑doctoral experience in a biologically‑related science.
- Track record of innovative research or clear potential, demonstrated by impactful publications.
- Ability to develop and lead an independent research programme.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion, with encouragement for women and under‑represented candidates.
