Associate R&D Tax Consultant

About the role

Knight R&D, part of the K3 Capital Group, is seeking an Associate R&D Tax Consultant to join its fast‑growing team in Liverpool. You will work with a diverse portfolio of technology‑focused clients, helping them translate their research and development activities into UK R&D tax incentives.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in client workshops to capture technical project details and qualifying criteria.
• Take clear, structured notes to support technical reporting and claim preparation.
• Build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and external advisers under senior guidance.
• Analyse client projects against UK R&D tax legislation and DSIT guidelines.
• Develop an understanding of the different R&D incentives (ERIS, Merged RDEC, RDA) and their application.
• Draft high‑quality R&D claim documentation and costing summary schedules.

Required profile

• Technical background in science, engineering or technology.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Motivation to build a career in R&D tax incentives and professional services.
• Willingness to engage early with client meetings and senior team members.

Required skills

• Understanding of UK R&D tax legislation.
• Familiarity with DSIT guidelines and the various R&D incentive schemes.
• Ability to analyse technical projects and associated expenditure.
