Associate Town Planner – Cornwall

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Town Planner to join a respected independent planning consultancy serving Cornwall and the wider South West. This senior‑level position offers the chance to lead diverse planning projects, manage client relationships and mentor junior staff while contributing to the firm’s strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a varied portfolio of planning applications, appeals and strategic housing schemes.
• Provide commercial planning advice to private and public sector clients across residential, mixed‑use, rural and regeneration projects.
• Represent clients at planning committee meetings and hearings as required.
• Develop and nurture client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Support business development initiatives and regional networking activities.
• Mentor and support junior planners, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Required profile

• MRTPI qualified (or eligible) with extensive private or public sector planning experience.
• Strong knowledge of planning policy specific to Cornwall and the South West.
• Commercially aware with proven client‑management capabilities.
• Confident communicator with leadership potential and ambition to progress toward director level.
