Attendance Officer – Secondary School (Liverpool)

About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking an Attendance Officer to join a secondary school in Liverpool. You will be responsible for monitoring student attendance, investigating unexplained absences, and working closely with families to remove barriers to regular school attendance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the electronic registration system to record arrivals, late arrivals and follow up on missing data with teaching staff.
- Produce regular attendance reports for the Safeguarding Team, Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Year and the Local Authority.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date attendance records and ensure compliance with child protection policies.
- Make initial enquiries with parents or carers regarding unexplained absences and punctuality concerns.
- Conduct home visits to assess underlying causes affecting a pupil’s ability to attend school.
Required profile
- Valid UK driving licence with access to a car.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) registered with the online update service.
- At least two professional references covering the last 24 months.
Required skills
- Proficiency with electronic attendance tracking systems.
- Ability to generate and interpret attendance data reports.
