Audit and Accounts Associate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Associate to join a growing accountancy practice in Hertfordshire. The role blends audit work with statutory accounts preparation, offering a balanced mix of technical tasks and client interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with and lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Prepare statutory accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Prepare and review working papers in line with accounting and auditing standards.
• Support senior team members and managers on ad‑hoc projects.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and deliver excellent client service.
• Travel to client sites in St Albans and occasionally London, with expenses covered.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• Audit experience preferred, but strong accounts preparation background acceptable.
• AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, or qualified by experience.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines and work independently.
