Audit Assistant Manager – Corporate Audit (London)

About the role

McGinnis Loy Associates is recruiting an Audit Assistant Manager for a Top‑20 accountancy practice in central London. The position is fully commercial audit, leading qualified staff, liaising with partners and reviewing audits for corporate PLCs and PE‑backed businesses across hospitality and entertainment sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of audit and account clients with turnovers up to £150 million, including listed, private and PE‑backed groups.
• Assist partners in planning and executing complex UK and international audit engagements, from opening to closing meetings.
• Drive business development by maintaining existing client relationships and targeting new audit work in the London region.
• Review internal audit practices, identify efficiency improvements and support compliance procedures such as quality control and anti‑money‑laundering reviews.
• Support audit partners in establishing audit approaches, reviewing work papers and ensuring timely completion of audit files.
• Oversee qualified audit staff on client sites to guarantee audit objectives are met.
• Act as a trusted business adviser to major clients, fostering strong relationships with colleagues and clients.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA, ICAS or ACCA accountant.
• Minimum three years’ experience managing client portfolios in audit.
• Proven experience across corporate sectors, including OMBs, PE‑backed, listed and international groups.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102.
