Audit Assistant / Semi‑Senior (Chartered Accountancy)

About the role

Join a respected firm of Chartered Accountants operating across the South East. You will work on a varied portfolio of audit and accounts assignments for owner‑managed businesses and corporate clients, gaining exposure to multiple sectors while developing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with statutory audits for limited companies across a variety of sectors.
• Prepare statutory accounts and supporting working papers.
• Carry out substantive testing and analytical review work.
• Support the completion of corporation tax computations.
• Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve queries professionally.
• Collaborate closely with senior team members to deliver assignments efficiently and accurately.
• Build knowledge of accounting standards, audit regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Contribute positively to the wider team and support junior members where appropriate.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an external audit role within an accountancy practice.
• Exposure to audit assignments for UK limited companies.
• Studying ACA or ACCA, or qualified by experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage deadlines.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
