Audit Associate Director

About the role

Rutherford Briant, a Top 50 UK practice, is seeking an Audit Associate Director to join its London office. This senior position offers the chance to lead a portfolio of SME audit clients across sectors such as FMCG, retail and media, while working closely with partners and developing junior talent.

Key responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of SME audit engagements, acting as the primary senior contact and trusted adviser.
• Lead risk‑based audit assignments, ensuring quality, budget adherence, timelines and high‑level client service.
• Review statutory accounts, management letters and other deliverables to maintain technical excellence.
• Coach, mentor and develop junior team members, supporting managers and collaborating with partners on broader objectives.
• Identify value‑add opportunities, strengthen client relationships and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Extensive experience managing audits for SME clients with turnovers of £10‑50 million.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage client relationships and take full ownership of a portfolio.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging senior stakeholders.
