Audit Director (Responsible Individual) – London

About the role

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Audit Director (Responsible Individual) to join a thriving professional services firm in central London. You will be accountable for signing audit reports and leading complex engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Responsible Individual (RI) and sign audit reports in line with regulatory and professional standards.
• Lead and oversee audit engagements across multiple sectors, ensuring high‑quality delivery.
• Review and approve audit planning, risk assessments, completion work and financial statements.
• Provide technical guidance on complex accounting and auditing matters, including FRS 102 and UK GAAP.
• Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to senior management.
• Identify value‑adding opportunities and support business development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical and quality‑control requirements.
• Manage engagement profitability, budgets and resource allocation.
• Coach and mentor audit managers and wider team members.

Required profile

• ACA qualified with experience operating as a Responsible Individual.
• Significant experience leading statutory audits for a broad range of clients.
• Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards, FRS 102 and UK GAAP.
• Proven ability to manage complex audit assignments from planning through completion.
• Demonstrated skill in reviewing and challenging technical accounting judgments.
