Audit Manager – Accounting Practice

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead audit engagements for our accounting practice clients. You will own the audit process from planning through completion, ensuring high‑quality delivery within budget and timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Perform audits from planning, fieldwork and completion within agreed budget.
• Act as the principal contact for the client during on‑site fieldwork and follow up on client queries after completion.
• Manage on‑site teams, supervise junior staff and allocate work appropriately.
• Prepare statutory financial statements from client management accounts.
• Research technical issues, propose solutions and present them for partner/director review.
• Adhere to deadlines and promptly notify partners of potential problems.
• Identify business development opportunities aligned with client needs.
• Manage work‑in‑progress and billing for client assignments.
• Undertake additional duties as reasonably required.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or recognised equivalent.
• At least five years of audit experience within an accounting practice.
• Experience with complex group structures and component auditors is highly desirable.
• Ability to provide practical business advice and flag significant control issues.
• Strong knowledge of business‑cycle controls and audit risk assessment.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring audit teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
