Audit Manager – Fast‑track to Directorship

About the role

We are seeking an Audit Manager to lead a portfolio of OMB/SME clients in Milton Keynes, reporting directly to a Partner. The role offers a fast‑track route to Directorship within a top‑40 UK accountancy firm.

Key responsibilities

• Review and sign‑off complex accounts and financial statements prepared by junior staff.
• Ensure audit compliance with standards covering fixed assets, depreciation, stock, accrued/deferred income and accruals.
• Plan, execute and supervise audits for clients with turnover up to £150 million, including staff allocation and final file review.
• Conduct close‑out meetings, manage budgets, and meet client deadlines.
• Set objectives, carry out appraisals and coach audit team members on‑site and at client locations.
• Act as primary contact for audit clients, liaising with CFOs, MDs and other stakeholders.
• Drive profitable audit delivery and support business development across other service lines.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with a university degree.
• Extensive experience in external audit of SMEs and larger entities.
• Strong staff management and coaching abilities.
• Ambitious, entrepreneurial mindset with potential to become a Director.
