Audit Manager – Lead Audit Engagements

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Audit Manager to join our client’s practice in Liverpool. The role combines technical audit delivery with client relationship management and business development.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion.
- Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of not‑for‑profit, SME and professional practice clients.
- Directly line‑manage a team of 3‑4 auditors.
- Contribute to business development through pitches, tenders and identifying opportunities within existing client relationships.
- Undertake ad‑hoc projects such as due‑diligence work and resolve accounting issues.
- Support the firm’s Audit Quality Control processes.
Required profile
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Operating at Audit Manager level with high familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards.
- Background in general practice and experience managing multiple audits and deadlines.
- Strong commitment to audit quality and attention to detail.
- Experience with SRA Accounts Rules Reviews is advantageous but not mandatory.
