Audit Manager - Pensions

About the role

We are seeking a qualified auditor with strong pensions experience to join a specialist audit practice. This manager‑level position offers the chance to own a portfolio of high‑profile pension fund clients, develop leadership skills, and work alongside senior partners in a flexible office or hybrid setting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of pension fund clients, acting as the primary contact and reporting to the engagement partner.
• Lead statutory audits from planning through completion, ensuring delivery within budget and quality standards.
• Prepare audit planning documents and findings reports, offering insightful commentary and improvement recommendations.
• Oversee the audit process and team, focusing on quality, profitability, and timely delivery.
• Review and mentor the audit team, fostering continuous improvement.
• Lead wider pensions assurance and risk‑management projects, preparing reports and liaising directly with clients.
• Ensure all work complies with the firm’s professional standards and client expectations.
• Support partners in maintaining audit objectives and quality across the portfolio.

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as ACA, CA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Strong audit background with hands‑on experience in pension scheme audits.
• Good knowledge of the pensions sector, SORP and relevant regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple client priorities while maintaining high standards.
• Proven people‑management skills, including supervision and development of junior staff.
• Collaborative yet autonomous working style with strong communication abilities.
