Audit Senior – Chatham

About the role

Our client, a respected professional services firm, is expanding its audit function and seeks a qualified Audit Senior to lead a portfolio of audit assignments. This hands‑on, client‑facing position offers the chance to shape audit delivery, mentor junior staff and develop your own career within a supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of audit assignments from planning through completion, ensuring quality and compliance with technical standards.
• Arrange and chair audit planning meetings, set engagement tone and manage budgets.
• Monitor progress across multiple engagements, maintaining clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Research and escalate technical issues, prepare Going Concern assessments and Key Audit Findings reports.
• Oversee audit file administration, address review points promptly and ensure files are review‑ready.
• Act as primary contact for nominated clients throughout fieldwork, including arranging stock takes where required.
• Ensure client compliance with AML checks, KYC reviews and engagement letters.
• Supervise, coach and review the work of semi‑seniors and assistants, supporting their development.
• Coordinate with outsourced or offshore team members and contribute to billing preparation.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
• Solid, practical experience delivering audit fieldwork across a range of client types and sizes.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Strong organisational skills and the confidence to act as a trusted point of contact for clients.
