Audit Senior – Corporate SME, Charity & Academy Portfolio

About the role

We are seeking an ACA or ACCA‑qualified Audit Senior to join our Liverpool office. You will manage a diverse portfolio of corporate SMEs, charities and academies, delivering audit assignments from planning through to completion with the support of an experienced management team.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and finalise audit assignments under manager supervision.
• Take day‑to‑day responsibility for a varied client portfolio.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts.
• Lead audit teams, coordinate on‑site work and review junior staff output.
• Identify audit risks and raise technical issues as needed.
• Serve as primary contact for clients throughout the audit process.
• Coach and train junior team members.
• Ensure timely, accurate delivery of assignments and maintain strong client relationships.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Proven external audit experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience managing the full audit cycle.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop junior colleagues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Organised, able to juggle multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Self‑motivated and committed to continuous technical development.

• Working knowledge of accounting software.
• Working knowledge of audit software.
