About the role
We are looking for an experienced AutoCAD Electrical Designer to join our specialist automation business in Derbyshire. The role involves creating detailed electrical schematics and panel layouts for PLC and SCADA systems across a variety of industrial sectors, working closely with automation engineers and project teams.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and modify AutoCAD Electrical drawings for PLC, SCADA, MCC and control panels.
- Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and terminal details.
- Support the design and development of industrial automation and control systems.
- Collaborate with automation engineers, electricians and project teams throughout design and installation phases.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, safety regulations and client specifications.
- Assist with Bill of Materials preparation and component selection.
- Support panel fabrication, FAT testing, commissioning and troubleshooting as required.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing revisions and engineering records.
- Interpret P&IDs, single‑line diagrams and control schematics.
Required profile
- Previous experience as an AutoCAD Electrical Designer or Electrical Design Engineer in industrial automation.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable electrical drafting software.
- Good understanding of PLC systems and SCADA architectures.
- Knowledge of industrial control panels, instrumentation and electrical circuits.
- Familiarity with industrial networking and automation components.
- Understanding of panel wiring standards and electrical compliance requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
