Automation Engineer

About the role

Amazon is looking for an Automation Engineer to ensure that automated systems across its fulfilment network operate at peak performance. You will work on a variety of equipment, from conveyors to sortation systems, and travel between regional sites in London up to 50% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot and repair issues with key automation systems.
• Collaborate with the EU Controls network to track Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics.
• Produce data visualisations of troubleshooting activities for internal stakeholders.
• Lead or contribute to continuous‑improvement projects within the EU Controls network.
• Maintain accurate documentation and backup libraries for all systems.
• Install and commission new equipment in partnership with global colleagues.
• Support other sites in the EU Controls network as required.
• Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and develop improvement strategies compliant with IEC 61131‑3.

Required profile

• Experience working with automation machinery such as conveyors and sortation systems.
• Willingness to travel between regional sites in London (approximately 50% of weekly time).
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders.
